Captain Tim is now offering two unique guided fishing trips in Florida for anglers to check Goliath Grouper off their fish “Bucket List”. Goliath Guru is the name that Captain Tim Simos was given after catching hundreds of Goliath Grouper for his clients. The term Guru means “teacher” and someone “heavy with knowledge” on a specific subject. Captain Tim prefers to target Goliath because they are the most powerful fish in Florida and the most challenging.

Land Based Goliath Grouper Charter This trip is land based targeting Goliath grouper. The location right now is the bridges of the Fort Pierce area and will be expanding soon. The Goliath Guru has the rods reels and tackle to winch your Goliath out of its’ environment. These trips are dependent on the tide cycle, so meeting time will vary according to the moon phase. Cost for this charter in Fort Pierce is 950 for one person. Second person adds 500. Call for a quote on other locations.

Goliath Grouper Charter on YOUR BOAT Captain Tim is now offering Goliath only trips on your boat. Whether your boat is in Fort Pierce or the Stuart area, he will guide you to the best locations to catch whatever size Goliath you are looking for. He has spent the last 18 years developing and refining his techniques to catch more Goliath in a short amount of time. Cost for this trip is 1,250 for two persons. Extra persons add 500 for up to two. Call Capt. Tim for further details.

Goliath Permit Season If keeping a Goliath interests you, then apply for a permit on the FWC website during the first two weeks in October. If you are selected, schedule a trip from March 1 through May 31 during the Goliath permit harvest season. You are almost guaranteed to get your slot Goliath as Capt. Tim is successful in 10 out of 10 attempts at filling Goliath tags with 6 being over 30 inches. About a third of the tags are brought by clients who have failed to fill tags on the West Coast . Fort Pierce is proving to be the best location to catch slot Goliath.

Wherever you fish, if you ever get the chance to fish for the Goliath Grouper, please only use circle hooks and not J-hooks. Using circle hooks will virtually guarantee that the fish is hooked in the perimeter of the mouth and will not be gut hooked.

Also, in order to give the Goliath the best chance of survival, never bring him out of the water and into a boat.
